<br />Colonel Robert W. Love will become Division Engineer for the Missouri
<br />River Division of the Army Corps of Engineers, with headquarters at Omaha,
<br />Nebraska, effective March 15, 1966.
<br />
<br />He will succeed Colonel Bert de Me1ker, the Acting Division Engineer
<br />since August 1965, who is retiring from active service on March 31, 1966.
<br />
<br />Colonel Love, 49, is currently serving as Commanding Officer, Corps
<br />of Engineers Ballistic Missile Construction Office, Norton Air Force Base,
<br />California.
<br />
<br />As Missouri River Division Engineer, he will have responsibility for
<br />the Corps of Engineers' Water Resources Program in the 530,000 square mile
<br />Missouri River Basin. The basin encompasses all or parts of Nebraska, North
<br />Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas
<br />and Missouri. He will also have responsibility for Corps of Engineers
<br />military construction, in support of the U. S. Army and Air Force, in eight
<br />states: Nebraska, Iowa, Colorado, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota,
<br />Missouri and Kansas.

<br />Colonel Love is a native of Madisonville, Tennessee. He was commis-
<br />sioned in the Army Corps of Engineers in 1938 upon graduation from the
<br />United States Military Academy, West Point.
<br />
<br />He was a Company Commander in the 11th Engineer Combat Regiment in
<br />Panama when World War II began. He soon returned to the United States to
<br />organize and train the l874th Engineer Aviation Battalion. He led this
<br />unit for two years in Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines. Later he
<br />commanded, successively, two Engineer regiments and an Engineer group in
<br />the Philippines.
<br />
<br />After the war he served for a year in the Office of the Chief of
<br />Engineers in Washington. He received his Master of Business Administration
<br />degree from Harvard University, and then served for two years as Post
<br />Engineer, Letterkenny Ordnance Depot.
<br />
<br />In 1951 he was assigned to the Far East. He commanded the 2nd Regiment
