In the 1960's, Congress terminated the authorization of those 1 <br /> <br />units of the Missouri Basin Project upon which construction had not <br /> <br />yet started. This policy required the completion of a new feasibility <br /> <br />report on, the Narrows Project. The new report was completed in 1967, <br /> <br />and subsequently presented to the Congress. <br /> <br />In 1970, ,the Narrows Project was re'-authorized and almost immediately <br /> <br />thereafter funds, were appropriated to initiate construction. Repayment <br /> <br />contracts lor the Narrows Project have been executed by the Lower South <br /> <br />Platte Water Conservancy'District and the Central Colorado Water Con- <br /> <br />servancy District. The project will cost an estimated $148,000,000. <br /> <br />,..-, <br /> <br />The project will supply supplemental irrigation water to irrigate <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />about 287,000 acres of land in the Lower South Platte Valley. This <br /> <br />increased irrigation is estimated to increase the total value of crops <br /> <br />and livestock produced in the area by about 17.2 million dollars annually. <br /> <br />
