Those <br />permits on which action took place since the 1990 Review are <br />discussed in the following paragraphs, together with the actions <br />taken by the states since the 1990 Review. Basin states have <br />completed and some are in the process of completing and <br />implementing Nonpoint Source Control Implementation Programs <br /> <br />Arizona <br /> <br />In drafting NPDES permits for industries throughout the <br />Colorado River Basin within the state above Imperial Dam, Arizona <br />follows the Forum's policy regarding salinity control. Reuse of <br />treated wastewater is encouraged as a general principle. The <br />State's Nonpoint Source Water Qual i ty Assessment and Management <br />Plan reports have been approved by EPA. The Management Plan <br />provides for federal consistency in applying the provisions of the <br />NPS Managment Program. These activities include modification of <br />irrigation systems, salinity control projects, impoundments, and <br />diversion. <br /> <br />California <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />No new or reissued NPDES permits were issued during this <br />reporting period. Discharge permit requirements for land <br />discharges include a prohibition against brine backwash from water <br />softeners being discharged into evapo-percolation ponds that <br />overlie ground waters which are in hydraulic continuity with the <br />Colorado River system. Industrial discharges are confined in <br />impervious evaporation basins. <br /> <br />Colorado <br /> <br />There are currently 286 NPDES permits in the Colorado River <br />basin portion of the state, of which 143 are domestic or municipal <br />permits and 143 are industrial permits. Of this total, 26 are <br />classified as major municipal permits and 8 are classified as major <br />industrial permits. <br /> <br />There were 33 new permits issued and 45 permit <br />approved between October 1, 1990 and September 30, 1991. <br />or reissued permits comply with Forum policy. <br /> <br />renewals <br />All new <br /> <br />Water Quality Control Plans exist for all four Planning <br />Regions located within the Colorado River basin. During the time <br />frame covered by this report, there were no revisions to the plans. <br /> <br />Nevada <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />No new or reissued NPDES permits were issued during this <br />reporting period. <br /> <br />14 <br />
