The Finding of Feasibility was approved <br />by the Secretary otthe Interior on April 10, 1940, and tranemi tted <br />to the Congress on the same date. On June 18, 1940, the Congress tirst <br />appropriated tunds "for further investigations, exploratory and pre- <br />paratory work and commencement of construction...... II (Act of June IS, <br />1940, Ch. 395, 54 Stat. 406.) <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />CONEJOS DIVISION <br /> <br />~i <br />.-i <br />. ,., <br />-::..J <br />,"I <br />~~j <br />I <br />~ <br /> <br />The proposed works of the Conejos Division are to provide a <br />supplemental water supply, through storage facilities, tor 116,000 <br />acres in Conejos CO\L~ty, Colorado. <br /> <br />Two plans of development for the Conejoe Division have been <br />under study; one is the plan preeented in H. D, No. 693, 76th <br />Congress, 3rd Session, the other is a single reservoir, with equiva- <br />lent irrigation storage capacity, on the main stream. Advance <br />preliminary cost estimates for the single reservoir plan indicates <br />that there is slight differsnqe in. the probable cost to, the water <br />users as bstween the two plans. Selection of a definite plan,w111 be <br />immediately following receipt of authoritative competent estimates <br />of cost. <br /> <br />:~ r~~l <br />,/ , <br />~ <br />"bel <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />Field land classification work was in progress throughout the <br />month with a total ot 33,280 acres cle,ssitied as of April 25, 1946. <br />Collection of economic and related agricultural data continued. <br />Preliminary surveys for the relocation ot U. S. Highway 285 and <br />the Conejos River Forest Road around Counsellor Reservoir were <br />in progress throughout the month. <br /> <br />L <br />, <br />L <br /> <br />RIO GRA..'lDE DIVISION' <br /> <br />t-'" <br />, <br />! <br />, <br />I <br />! <br /> <br />'!'he proposed works of the Rio Grande Division will provide <br />supplemental water for lands in Alamosa, Rio Grande and Saguache <br />Counties, Colorado.
