<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />0018J3 <br /> <br />2526.04 <br /> <br />TITLE 2500 - WATERSHED MANAGEMENT <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />2526.04 - Responsibilities <br /> <br />2526.04a - Associate Deputy Chief for Resources, National <br />Forest System. The Associate Deputy Chief for Resources, <br />Nat~onal Forest system, shall: <br /> <br />1. Provide national pOlicy, objectives, guidelines, <br />and minimum standards for protection and improvement of <br />riparian areas on National Forest system lands. <br /> <br />2. Coordinate Forest Service research programs with <br />riparian area management needs. <br /> <br />3. Coordinate riparian area management direction with <br />that of other Federal agencies at the national level. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />2526.04b - Regional Foresters. Regional Foresters shall: <br /> <br />1. Ensure that riparian area management is included in <br />the land management planning process. <br /> <br />2. Provide technical standards, guidance, training, <br />and quality control for the management of riparian areas. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />3. Provide criteria for monitoring effectiveness of <br />measures implemented for the protection and improvement of <br />riparian areas. <br /> <br />4. Develop more specific criteria as needed to define <br />riparian areas in terms of soil, vegetation, and landforms. <br /> <br />2526.04c - Forest supervisors. Forest Supervisors shall: <br /> <br />1. Inventory riparian areas in the Forest land"manage- <br />ment planning process. <br /> <br />2. Develop and implement measures to manage and pro- <br />tect riparian areas according to national objectives and <br />Regional standards. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />3.
