To protect National Forest watersheds <br />by implementing practices designed to retain soil stabil- <br />ity, improve or maintain site productivity, secure favor- <br />able conditions of water flow, and preserve or enhance <br />aquatic values. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />2520.3 - Policy. Apply management practices which meet <br />requirements for soil stability, site productivity, and <br />favorable conditions of water flow on all operations <br />conducted by or under the control of the Forest Service. <br /> <br />~ - WATERSHED CONDITION ASSESSMENT <br />2521.02 - Objectives <br /> <br />1. To assess long-term trends of soil and water <br />resource conditions as influenced by integrated land use <br />practices. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />2. To assess the changes in resource outputs that <br />result from changes in watershed condition. <br /> <br />3. To effectively carry out land management activities <br />without permanent impairment of soil productivity and/or <br />favorable conditions of water flows. <br /> <br />2521.03 - pOlicy. Assess watershed condition in National <br />Regional, Forest, and project planning. Use the results of <br />watershed condition analyses in each RPA assessment update <br />and as a basis for defining needs and opportunities in the <br />program alternatives.
