oon540

Prcparation of a draft for a rcpaymcnt contract and the

negotiations for the contract will be started as soon as cost

allocations and rcpaymcnt analyscs for the Dcfinite Plan Report have

been completcd,

A preliminary draft for an Environmental Impact Statement
\
has been prepared but will need updating and revision as the planning

work proceeds and input is receivcd from other agencies and individuals

during the review process,

A large amount of work remains to be done to complete the

Definite Plsn Report and the Environmental Impact Statement. This

work involves not only surveys, designs, cost estimates, hydrologic

studies, economic analyses, etc, to be accomplished primarily by

Reclamation personnel but also involves data and analyses for which

other agencies have performance responsibilities. The close cooperation

of these other agencies will be required if the present schedules are

to be met,

Construction

It is expected that the project features can be constructed

in a period of about 5 years from the time construction money is made

available. However, it may be found advantageous that some of the

features, particularly units of the Ridgway Pumping Plant, be constructed

in stages over a longer period to conform with the development of

municipal and industrial water needs.

.

9

[
l

/

~
