Analysis of Comments - The 243 recorded comments from the scoping meetings and over <br />400 comments from letters were analyzed and categorized into a listing of issues and concerns. <br />To allow us to summarize the issues and concerns presented, each comment was assigned a code <br />and all comments with similar codes were sorted together under the 22 items summarized in the <br />next chapter. Each of the cooperating agencies is being provided with notebooks of the actual <br />coded and sorted comments for future reference when addressing the issues and concerns during <br />NEPA analysis. <br /> <br />E. Newsletter - Initial Scoping Results <br /> <br />There is a broad diversity of agencies, water users, and environmental and recreational interest <br />groups for the Gunnison Basin, including the Aspinall Unit, Black Canyon, Gunnison Gorge, <br />and Curecanti. There are also sectors with strong interests in water development and <br />management and in power generation and distribution. Because these individuals, groups, and <br />agencies are throughout the Colorado Basin states and the United States, newsletters will be used <br />as a means by which a geographically dispersed public can participate with relative ease. The <br />fust newsletter will highlight the issues and concerns summarized by this report, and will <br />identify agencies where the report can be obtained. Subsequent newsletters will notify the <br />general mailing list of progress and opportunities for involvement throughout the contract <br />development and NEPA analysis processes. <br /> <br />The mailing list of individuals and contacts from the media, agencies, and interested <br />organizations for the scoping results newsletter will be contained in the supplementary notebooks <br />of comments and letters provided to cooperating agencies. <br /> <br />8 <br />
