Box 11568 <br />Salt Lake City, Utah 84147-11568 <br /> <br />Re: Small Reclamation Loan Application Report for <br />Dolores Project Water Development on the Ute <br />Mountain Ute Reservation <br /> <br />Dear Mr. Robison: <br /> <br />The Ute Mountain Ute Tribe is hereby applying for <br />a Small Reclamation Projects Act Loan, with the <br />submita1 of the attached preliminary application <br />report. The loan is for $18,323,000 under the <br />provisions of the Small Reclamation Projects Act of <br />1956, Public Law 84-984 as amended, for the <br />construction of municipal and irrigation facilities to <br />utilize water supplies provided by the Dolores <br />Project. The water rights for the Dolores Project <br />water are provided in the Colorado Ute Indian Water <br />Rights Settlement Act of 1988, Public Law 100-585, as <br />compensation for Winters Doctrine Water Rights the <br />Tribe is entitled too. <br /> <br />The total project cost is estimated to be <br />$33,642,000. The Tribe's contribution will be <br />$15,319,000. The Tribe will repay the loan without <br />interest, all of the facilities funded from the loan <br />are for irrigation, over 40 years. <br /> <br />The Tribe has the authority to contract with the <br />Federal Government for a loan, and the Tribal Council <br />has passed a resolution authorizing this application. <br /> <br />The loan will allow the Tribe to utilize water <br />supplies received from the Dolores Project to provide <br />municipal water to the residents of the reservation <br />and to irrigate about 8,000 acres of land. <br /> <br />Chief Jack House.
