Speoial Investigator <br />SUBJECT: IRRIGATED lANDS IN TEE NORTH PLATTE RIVER BASIN <br />(Guernsey Reservoir, Wyoming to North Platte, Nebraska) <br /> <br />FIELD INVESTIGATIONS <br /> <br />(June 18 to July 16, 1940) <br /> <br />PURPOSE. <br /> <br />Field investigations made by the Colorado Wa~er Conservation <br /> <br />Board along the North Platte River were made to seoure data to be <br /> <br />used by the state of Colorado in the case of Nebraska vs. Wyoming end <br /> <br />,~~-- <br /> <br />Colorado, United states Intervener. Field work in this section of <br /> <br />the river was done by E. H. Dyer, Special Investigator and H. P. <br /> <br />Nagel III, Jr.. Hydr~ulic Engineer. <br /> <br />In general the purpose of the ixrvestigation was to deter- <br /> <br />mine the extent of irrigation and irrigation facilities along the <br /> <br />main river end its tributaries, observe the extent of pumping opera- <br /> <br />tiona, to oheck ditohes wherever feasible as to capacity and lands <br /> <br />irrigated; to oheck the alleged water right appropriations to the ex- <br /> <br />tent that the amount appropriated was oonsistent in general .with the <br /> <br />areas served, to note practices of water administration by the State <br /> <br />authorities; to seoure information regarding the history end develop- <br /> <br />ment of irrigation enterprises. along with any other information which <br /> <br />might be pertinent. <br />
