MANAGEMENT GOALS AND OBJECTXVES FOR SPECXAL MANAGEMENT WATERS <br /> <br />C. special Management Waters <br /> <br />Goal 1: <br /> <br />The biological status and trends of native aquatic <br />wildlife in the lower South Platte River and its <br />tributaries must be determined. <br /> <br />Objectives: <br />a) Conduct a <br />distribution, <br />of native and <br /> <br />b) <br /> <br />c) <br /> <br />comprehensive inventory of the <br />abundance, and reproductive success <br />non-native fishes in 1993 and 1994. <br /> <br />Conduct a comprehensive inventory of the physical <br />habitat and water quality in the tributary streams <br />and mainstem South Platte in 1993 and 1994. <br /> <br />Update distributional records for amphibians and <br />mollusks. <br /> <br />Coordinate with the Aquatic Research Section to <br />incorporate the inventory data into Geographical <br />Information systems (GIS) format to determine the <br />status of species, communities, and habitat; and <br />determine historical trends or associations with <br />land use, water development, water degradation, and <br />non-native species by 1996. <br /> <br />Management strategies must be developed and <br />implemented to enhance the distribution and <br />abundance of native aquatic wildlife species <br />determined to be in a state of decline or <br />qualifying for threatened or endangered status. <br /> <br />Objectives: <br /> <br />d) <br /> <br />Goal 2: <br /> <br />a) Acquire, starting in 1995, habitat and instream <br />flows determined to be critical to maintaining <br /> <br />13 <br />
