r

i

:APR-30-1996 13:04 FROM RIVERSIDE TECHNOLOGY.INC

TO

13038664474320 P.03

. State: A m.emor dum documenting the revised base flow network. and an
assessment of th . subsequent base flows generated from the Phase ill network.
. RTiWR: STAT MOD f1les reflecting the Phase TII hydrology.

2.13. : Calibration
,

Objective: Calibrate the ite River Basin Phase ill model network. It is expected that the
qualil)i of the calibration of the hase m model will decrease relative to the Phase Il calibration
(more ~etail does not mean be r calibration). However. it is expected that the calibration of the
Phase III model can be made to achieve a level that is comparable to that of the Phase II effort.

Approach:

The following modeling scen os and visual work products will be used in the calibration
; process:
: 1. Phase II scenari outputs (already available) for . 1 Ii and historic data sets.
, 2. Phase III fully a gregated calculated and historic scenarios.
: 3. An interim wor product will be developed through the following visual
comparisons: bular and big picture plot of average annual acre. feet from
\. -6 historic data (av rage annual), graphs of full time series (monthly) acre. feet.
~ ll\ These visual co pari sons will be prepared at 6 explicitly modeled key diversion
structures, 2 ag egated irrigation structures, 4 stream flow locations, and all
modeled reserv< ir locations. The above visual comparisons will be prepared for
two scenarios ha~e III historic vs, Phase 11 historic scenario and Phase III
historic vs. gag ) to be presented at a calibration meeting between RTiWR and
the State. After alibration is complete, visual comparisons will be produced for
all of the follow ng scenarios: Phase ill historic vs. Phase n historic, Phase ill
historic vs. gag . and Phase ill calculated vs. gaged.

; 1. RTiWR: Run e STATEMOD program to generate runs required to evaluate
each each of th three scenarios required for calibration.
: 2. RTiWR: Prep' the interim work products for the two scenarios (Phase III
historic vs. P II historic scenario. and Phase III historic vs. gaged) to be
presented at the alibration meeting.
: 3. RTiWR: Cond ct one illformal calibration meeting between RTi and the State to
identify areas 0 potential calibration concern. Document the meeting through a
set of informal eeting minutes. This scoping document does not account for
more than a sin Ie review meeling, if additional meetings are required, a change
order will be re uested.
: 4. RTiWR: Adjus, in cooperation wilh the State, the Phase m calibration
paramelf>rs as a esult of the calibration meeting. Calibration parameters for
adjustment (to hase III input files) will jnclude: aggregated node locations,
aggregated retu n flow locations, efficiency of aggregaled strUctures, aggregated

The c4libration task is to be ac omplished through the following specific work tasks:

0022
i
I
I
