Create a new node in the network coverage. Use ARCEDIT to split an existing arc
into two, or use an existing node if there is one close enough.
(editcoverage phS_network, edit feature ARC)
Arcedit: sel one
Arcedi t, split
2. Label the new reaches. Get the highest current reach ID in the Informix tables, and
number the new reaches sequentially higher. Keep records of all changes, so the infor-
mation can be entered into the Informix table.
a. To get the highest current reach_id from Informix:
SELECT reach_id FROM la9_loss_default
ORDER BY reach_id DESC;
b. To number reach_ids sequentially larger, all arcs which compose the new reach
must be attributed with the appropriate reach_id.
c. To find the length of all arcs that make up rhe new reach:
- select all arcs that compose the reach
run the ARCEDIT ami "calclength.aml"
d. Make note of the reach_ids and lengths of the new reaches.
3. Snap the new point to the newly created node. Create a new binary file of the network coverage. This file, accessed by the SPWRMS
application. is a subset of the information contained in the ARC coverage.

22 Database Manual
