Determine the highest current gageno in SPWRMS database. The new gauge must
have a higher ID to assure it is unique. Use Informix utilities to execute the following
SQL statement:
SELECT gageno FROM gagingstations
ORDER BY gageno DESC;
will produce a list of gageno's in descending order.

2. Digitize the new point into the coverage containing gauges.
Arcedit: ec phS_strearn_g
Arcedit: ef arc
Arcedit: Add

3. Attribute the new point. Assign a water district and a unique ID.
Arcedit: calc gageno = <highest current gageno + 1>
Arcedit: calc wd# = <appropriate water district number>

4. Connect the new point to the Network coverage (see "Modifying the Stream Net-
work" below).

1. Create a new record in the gagingstations table for each new gauge added.

INSERT INTO gagingstations

VALUES {gageno, abbrev,wd, altid,hasdata, trans-
rntn,fullname, valuetype)

where the items in parentheses are:

gageno the unique ID given to the newly-added gauge

abbrev SEa's 8-character abbreviation for gauge

wd the Water District ID of the gauge location

altid the corresponding ID in rights table. if there is one

hasdata binary field indicating whether data is collected by
this gauge (O=no, l=yes)

transmtn binary field indicating whether the gauge measures
flow on a transmountain diversion (O=no, I=yes)

full name full name of the gauge

valuetype type of value represented by gauge, one of "STaR,"
"FLOW," or "ELEV"

2.
