.. 001832

.\ The alternative methO'Il of supply would be much better from the viewpoint
of water conservation.

If the water released from Lake Brennon through the Coal Creek

outlet and destined for the Ohio Creek valley were carried in a canal

to Cool Creek valley, siphQned across that volley and then carried in

canal thrQugh OhiO' Pass, it would enter OhiO' Creek valley at the upper

end. This stQred water ~Quld then be available to meet decrees in bQth

upper end lower Ohio Creek valleys.

Economy WQuld dictate that even juniQr decrees in the upper

volley should be supplied with at least some of this stQred water, because

return flQW from such use would moke mQst of this water available fQr re-

diversion in the lowor valley. No surveys for the canal and siphon to

Ohio Pass have been made, but the structure would probably cost more than

.

the changes in the Gunnison-Ohio Creek Ditch. This additional cost would

be soundly justified by the greater use that could be made of the same

pmount of stQred water.

J\l temative Methods Qf Suppll.
There are ol ternative methods by which Ohio Creek shQrtage

might be relieved or which could be used to supply nny part of the stor-

age not economically feasible to develop at Leke Brennan.

Surveys were made under th8 direction of the state Engineer,

in 1934, of the following reservoir sites:

Castl e Creek . . .
Lower Willow Pk.
Upper Willow Pk. .

Water
Denth
65
100
50

Acre-feet
Clipuci ty
1,928
3,138
1,023.
6,089

Location
Forks of Castle Creek
Up North Fork - 1 mile
Up North Fork - 1t mile

.

all located near the head of Custle Creek above all irrigatiQn.
