<br />001814 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />stations: : <br /> <br />Horse Ranch, about 4 miles west of Lnke Brennan, September 1939 to <br />date, Drainage area 20.2 square miles <br /> <br />Erickson Ranch, 6 miles above junction with Muddy Creek and 12 miles <br />downstream from Horse Ranch, May 1936 to date, Drainage area 89.6 <br />square miles <br /> <br />both these stations were installed and are operated by the Bureau of Rec- <br /> <br />lamation in connection with its studies of ths North Fork valley. <br /> <br />Runoff of North Fork of Gunnison River has been measured at <br /> <br />Paonia station, 2 miles upstream from Paonia, .ranuary 1922 to Sept- <br />ember 1933. Station below Fire Mountain, stewart and North Fork <br />Farmers diversions which ore relatively large and some snaller di- <br />versions. Drainage area 702 square miles, including Terror and <br />Hubbard Creeks below some of tho large diversions <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Somerset station, 2 miles east of somerset, October 1, 1933 to date. <br />Above all diversions except a few small ditches on headwater strernns <br />which couse 11 ttle change from virgin flow. Eight miles above the <br />Paonia station. Drainage area 521 square miles <br /> <br />both these stations were installed by the state Engineer, the latter, an <br /> <br />I'lutomatic water stage recorder, in cooperation with the United states Geo- <br /> <br />logieal Survey. OV/ing to the large diversions above the Peonia station <br /> <br />and the fact that several tributori os with large flood flow enter below <br /> <br />some of the diversions tho record of the Pc-onia station Ct:'ll hardly be <br /> <br />adjusted to a satisfactory figure representing actual stream flow and only <br /> <br />the record of the Somerset stntien hc.,s been uscd in this study. <br /> <br />The record at Horse Rench consists of two compl"te yoars, 1939 <br /> <br />and 1940, obto.1ned with an automatic water stage recarder. At Erickson <br /> <br />Ranch the recard has been tnken fram a stuff gage and many manths are <br /> <br />missing. The record 0.1' that statian htls not been used in this study. <br /> <br />The records at Horse Rench and tit SOmerset both represent practiCally <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />virgin flow for the drainage areas above the stations.
