Need for Colorado River Floodway <br />bank stabilization, erosion <br />control and protection, channel <br />improvements and maintenance, and <br />other related activities. <br /> <br />Chapter III <br /> <br />o <br />Q' <br />N <br />;.-' <br />00 <br />......1 <br /> <br />Recommendations (continued) <br /> <br />The Coast Guard, in conjunction with the <br />Bureau of Reclamation and appropriate local <br />entities, should establish procedures for <br />determinations and notifications of river <br />navigation restrictions when releases from <br />Davis Dam and Parker Dam exceed 28,000 <br />cubic feet per second. <br /> <br />V. The Bureau of Reclamation should (a) maintain <br />an active policy and practice of removing <br />tributary outflows of rocks and debris from <br />the Floodway, (b) establish bank erosion control <br />and protection guidelines for private lands <br />adjacent to the river, (c) conduct a <br />comprehensive aSSeSsment of 'needs for river <br />bank erosion control and protection, and <br />channel improvement and training structures <br />for the Floodway elevation flow and establish <br />a priority program of implementation for needed <br />improvements, ~) develop a comprehensive long- <br />term program for the maintenance of the <br />l' loodway, (e) recommend and i mplemen t <br />vegetation management practices to help maintain <br />the Floodway channel capacity, (f) continue to <br />maintain river channel banks in undeveloped <br />areas and to allow, with prior approval, private <br />use of rock riprap and quarry wastes for <br />maintenance of existing armored river banks for <br />developed and occupied lands, and (g) construct <br />bench marks at river mile markers to denote the <br />Floodway boundary elevation. <br />
