<br />0014 18 <br /> <br />-2- <br /> <br />Prior to coming to Colorado, Mr. McDermid spent ten years with <br />the Orange County, California Flood Control District in positions <br />ranging from hydrographer to associate civil engineer in the planning, <br />design and construction divisions. Duties included supervision of a <br />design squad of civil engineers and technicians in the preparation of <br />construction plans and specifications for several flood control projects, <br />and project engineer for a 250,000 gpm storm water pumping station. He <br />supervsied the reinforced concrete structural design using the ACI-313-71 <br />code and earthquake criteria, studies for optimization .of pump/engine <br />combinations, writing of pump and engine specifications, and pump and <br />discharge line hydraulics, <br /> <br />After completing plans and specifications for the pump station, <br />Mr. McDermid was assigned as resident engineer for the construction phase <br />of the project. His responsibilities included full inspection of all <br />earthwork, formwork, reinforcing steel, concrete, masonry, carpentry, <br />and structural steel; review and acceptance of equipment submittals <br />and working drawings; preparation of- progress payments; and supervision <br />of quantity calculations, materials testing,. and inspectors. <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />Other experience with the Flood Control District included project <br />engineer on several flood control and recreational projects including" <br />preparation of project planning reports, hydraulic analysis and design, <br />structural design, right-af-way negotiations and document preparation, <br />preparation of plans and specifications, federal grant administration, <br />and supervision of the materials testing staff. <br /> <br />He holds Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Master of Science in <br />Civil Engineering degrees from California State University at Long Beach. <br />He is a registered civil engineer in California and a register~d <br />professional engineer'in Colorado, and associate member of the ~\meric&n <br />Society of Civil Engineers, a member or the Civil Engineering Honor <br />Society at California State University at Long Beach, and a member <br />of Tau Beta Pi. <br /> <br />000 <br />
