<br />perpetuate their inherent natural integrity in <br />western Colorado, in coordination with state <br />and other federal agencies. <br /> <br />Conditions to be attained: <br /> <br />1) Landscapes and their interdependent resources <br />are managed in a manner that does not derogate <br />or cause irretrievable damage to such resources. <br /> <br />2) Wildlife habitat and associated migration <br />corridors are managed in a manner that sustains <br />wildlife populations consistent with applicable <br />federal, state, and local laws and regulations. <br /> <br />3) Vegetation is maintained to perpetuate <br />biological diversity of communities, and <br />emphasis is placed on natural vegetation while <br />alien or noxious weed species are controlled <br />cooperatively with assistance from county weed <br />districts. <br /> <br />4) Grazing is managed in a manner consistent with <br />NPS policies and guidelines, with particular <br />emphasis on the perpetuation of wildlife and <br />associated habitat and the protection of riparian <br />and riverine areas. <br /> <br />5) Other land management entities and agencies <br />assist in achieving goals through recognition of <br />common benefits and support to reach mutually <br />agreed-upon goals. <br /> <br />26 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />6) Interpretive programming is in place that <br />addresses park and regional resource issues in <br />the (:ontext of the Gunnison Basin ecosystem. <br /> <br />7) The park staff is able to inform visitors about <br />resource issues on surrounding lands, and <br />surrounding land management agencies are able <br />to communicate park resource issues to their <br />visitors. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />8) Curecanti is managed as part of the larger <br />Gunnison Basin ecosystem. <br /> <br />9) Interpretive programming is active in <br />addressing regional land-based resource issues, <br />in the context of the Gunnison Basin ecosystem. <br /> <br />10) Research is facilitated in cooperation with other <br />entities. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />II) An adequate database to support management <br />decisions is in place. <br /> <br />The boundary for this ecosystem is defined as the <br />Gunnison Basin, from the headwaters to the <br />confluence with the Colorado River. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />
