<br />aesthetic character and dependent animal and <br />plant communities. <br /> <br />Conditions to be attained: <br /> <br />I) Harvesting of species will not decrease or <br />conflict with the opportunity for the public to <br />view wildlife in its natural environment. <br /> <br />2) There are opportunities to improve aquatic <br />habitat for reintroduction of cutthroat trout, and <br />reintroduction is pursued with appropriate <br />consultation with other agencies. <br /> <br />3) The quality sport fishery is maintained. <br /> <br />· WILDLIFE - Manage populations of <br />prairie dogs to minimize a human health <br />hazard and provide for adequate public <br />education. <br /> <br />Condition to be attained: <br /> <br />I) Prairie dog habitat is modified to reduce the <br />potential for plague. <br /> <br />· WILDLIFE - Allow hunting and <br />trapping of game species where such use is <br />specifically authorized. <br /> <br />Condition to be attained: <br /> <br />I) Harvesting of game species is monitored so that <br />it does not derogate resource values, cause <br />undue safety hazards for the visiting public, or <br />interfere with non-hunting visitation and is <br />consistent with the memorandum of agreement <br />(MOA) with the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR), <br />Colorado Division of Wildlife (CDOW) laws <br />and policies, the primary purposes of the park, <br />and the Colorado River Storage Project (CRSP). <br /> <br />· WATER - Manage water resources and <br />aquatic ecosystems to maintain, rehabilitate, <br />and perpetuate its inherent integrity in <br />coordination with the state and other federal <br />agencies and consistent with the Clean Water <br />Act (33 USC 1251 et seq.). <br /> <br />Conditions to be attained: <br /> <br />1) There is an opportunity to enhance viable <br />populations of sensitive or native species. <br /> <br />14 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />2) Water quality is maintained at its present high <br />leveL <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />3) Groundwater quality is maintained at its present <br />high leveL <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />· AIR - Perpetuate Class II air quality in <br />parks because of its critical importance to <br />visitor enjoyment, human health, scenic <br />vistas, and the preservation of natural <br />systems and cultural resources. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Conditions to be attained: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I) Facilities and activities within parks are in <br />compliance with Clean Air Act requirements, <br />including state and local regulations. <br /> <br />2) Information to document air quality conditions <br />has been acquired. <br /> <br />3) A strategy to use available information to <br />remedy existing and prevent future air pollution <br />effects on park resources and values has been <br />developed. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />· SCENIC - Maintain a full spectrum of <br />tangible and intangible attributes for which <br />the national recreation area was established. <br />Parks contain various tangible natural and <br />cultural features such as animals, plants, <br />waters, geologic features, historic buildings <br />and monuments, and archeological sites. <br />They also have intangible qualities such as <br />natural quiet, solitude, space, scenery, scenic <br />vistas, a sense of history, sounds of nature, <br />and clear night skies that are important <br />components of visitor use and enjoyment. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Conditions to be attained: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />1) Internal-viewsheds remain generally natural <br />and undeveloped as seen from within the park. <br /> <br />2) External-management for viewsheds that are <br />critical to providing quality recreational <br />experiences for park visitors is cooperatively <br />coordinated with adjacent land management <br />agencies, county planning entities, private <br />landowners, and transportation agencies. <br /> <br />3) Park development and park facilities do not <br />derogate view sheds or other scenic qualities. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />
