<br />0021-61 <br /> <br />County has measured and indicated bitumious and subbituminous coal <br /> <br />resouces of 3,692 million short tons (3,3459 million metric tons), and <br /> <br />inferred bituminous and subbituminous coal resources of 16,480 million <br /> <br />short tons (14,951 million metric tons). Uintah County, Utah, has <br /> <br />indicated bituminous coal resources of 143 million short tons (130 <br /> <br />million metric tons). Daggett County, Utah, has negligible quantities <br /> <br />of bituminous coal.IO <br /> <br />A measured resource implies a fairly precise estimate, an indicated <br /> <br />resource represents an intermediate degree of estimation, and an inferred <br /> <br />u _ _~: - .esource-_:is~bas-ed :upon, gecifogic uinference . <br /> <br />The principal Moffat County coal resources are in the eastern half <br /> <br />of the county, and are part of the Yampa coalfield that extends into Rio <br /> <br />Blanco and Routt Counties. "Commercially valuable eoal deposits of the <br /> <br />study region are largely found in the Williams Fork and lIes Formations <br /> <br />. [[esaverde Group, see fig.!J. Lower grade coal is found in the Wasatch, <br /> <br />Fort Union, and Lance formations."ll These large coal resources are <br /> <br />located east of the Monument.
