South Platte Water Rights Management System

1.2 Installation

The SGI-SPWRMS application is distributed to SEO machines via FTP. which is a UNIX
file transfer utility which allows the application to be moved from the CADSWES devel-
opment environment to the SEO UNIX workstations. The installation procedure will be
managed by CADSWES throughout the contract maintenance agreement. Once SEO
takes over support for the SPWRMS application, installation will be managed by SEO
using technical documentation provided by CADSWES in the fonn of a Programmers
Manual.

Software requirements

The SGI-SPWRMS application relies on access to the South Plaue /nformix database.
This access may be direct to the database engine Infermix Oo1ine or may be client access
via /nformix /NET

SGI-SPWRMS has been developed using the Motifgraphical interface library. This devel-
opment path does not restrict the SGI user to running the Motif Window Manager;
however, since Matifis based on the X-graphics protocol, the window manager used for
running the SGI-SPWRMS application must be X- Windows compliant.

Although SGI-SPWRMS displays maps which are in binary Ard/nfo fonnat, the Ard/nfo
GIS product is not required for running the SPWRMS application. The display and
management of spatial data is handled entirely by the SPWRMS application.

To install the SPWRMS mailbot, it will be necessary to have Version 5.0 of the gnu Perl
interpreter.

Application Directory Tree

The SPWRMS executable distribution includes a UNIX directory tree. This directory,
subsequently referred to as $SPLA1TE_DIR, is currently hardcoded as
/usr/projectls_plaue and cannot be changed without recompiling the application. The
following directories are present below $SPLA1TE_DIR:

$SPLA1TE_DIR/arc_info_maps: directory containing arc/info coverages for GUI display
of basin. including CADSWES post processed Arc/Info files arc.!u and arc.inf.

$SPLA1TE_DIRlbin: directory containing primary binary executable files for SPWRMS.

$SPLA1TE_DIRlbin/rights.shell: UNIX shell for dial in PC users.

$SPLA1TE_DIRlbin/spServer: command line version of SPWRMS for use by dial up PC
users (executed from rights.shell).

$SPLA1TE_DIRlbin/rights: shell script to start UNIX version on indigo display.

$SPLA1TE_DIRlbin/rights.indigo: shell script to start UNIX version on SGI indigo
display.

2

Administrators Manual
