The first line in the format file contains the format for
the first line displayed on the checksheet.

Each row in the format file corresponds to a row displayed on the Checksheet, which can
be one of the following types:

l. Locator: A formatted text string which identifies the columns of the Checksheet. This
row type is used to identify the columns of the main text display. Since the contents of
the scrolled window are so wide, this provides a convenient way to identify the col-
umns. This type of row takes one argument-the indention level. Users can not add
information into this type of row.

2. String: A text string which appears as a rowan the Checksheet. This type of row is
used for titles of sections and to create blank lines on the Checksheet. This row type
takes two arguments: the indention level and a quoted text string which is displayed on
the Checksheet as a row. Users can not enter information into this type of row.

3. Flow: A row that accepts user data input. This row type takes three arguments: the
indention level, the row ill, and a quoted text string which is displayed on the Check-
sheet as the title of the row. Users may enter data into this type of row.

4. Formula: A row which contains calculated values based on values in rows higher up
in the Checksheet. Formulas for a row calculate values within each column, from num-
bers above that row in the same column. It is not possible to use data from one column
to compute formula values in another column. This row type takes three arguments:
the indention level, the quoted text string used to identify the rowan the Checksheet,
and the formula string. Formulas are RPN, and may include operators, values, and ref-
erences to rows above in the Checksheet. See Section 1.6, "Water Information Sheet
Format Files," on page 7 for a description of formula rows for the Water Information

Administrator's Manual 9
