<br />U01544 <br /> <br />Wetlands. - The proposed action will have no impact on wetlands <br />for the same reasons as given above, The only wetlands in the <br />Lower Colorado Region are found below Hoover Dam. Since the <br />impacts of the proposed action will extend only as far as Hoover <br />Dam, there will be no impacts on wetlands. <br /> <br />Riparian Vegetation. - There will be very little impact on <br />riparian' vegetation by the proposed action. In the Lower <br />Colorado Region, the only significant amounts of riparian vegeta- <br />tion are found below Hoover Dam, Since the stretch of river <br />below Hoover Dam will not be impacted by the proposed action, <br />this riparian vegetation will not be affected. <br /> <br />Visual/Esthetic. - Extreme low flows would eliminate white water <br />boating and might decrease the river to such an extent that large <br />areas of shoreline would be exposed. Again, it should be kept in <br />mind, that only an incremental portion of this impact would be <br />due to energy development in the Upper Region. The major portion <br />of the impact would be due to drought conditions in the Upper <br />Region. If large areas of the shoreline are exposed, aquatic <br />plant and animal material could begin to decay causing a bad <br />odor. This impact would not imperil health or sanitation, but <br />would be offensive in smell for a time, <br /> <br />If the salinity changes are as slight as predicted, then no <br />aquatic or terrestrial organisms should be affected.
