<br />002458 <br /> <br />Study Team Recommendation <br /> <br />The study team recommended that the Colorado portion of the <br />Encampment River be included in the National System as a wild <br />river. See attached map. <br /> <br />Impacts of Desiqnation (from Study Report) <br /> <br />o Implementing the proposal would retain current scenery, <br />low erosion rates, good water quality, and fish and <br />wildlife values in the river corrider. <br /> <br />o Designation of the river as wild would prohibit water and <br />power development on the river and would withdraw the <br />river corridor from mineral entry, except for existing <br />claims. <br /> <br />o Annually about 14 man-years of employment, $540,000 of <br />sales, $170,000 of income, and 1.8 million board feet of <br />timber would not be contributed to the national economy <br />as a result of wild river designation. <br /> <br />Current Leqislation <br /> <br />There is no current legislation pending on the Encampment <br />River. <br /> <br />Ibm <br /> <br />-2- <br />
