.

.

1

300 cfs and the minimum flow into Utah would be 200 cfs.

Subsequent to the CORSIM studies performed in 1975, Fleming prepared a

report dated Occober 27, 1977, cit:led "Possible Reduction of Estimated

Water Suppli~s of the Rangely Projecc by Senior Rights Not Operated in the

Corsim II Compucer Simulation Studies." In this report Fleming estimated

the reduction in yield from Rangely Reservoir which would occur if certain

senior condicional rights were developed in addition c~ Chat considered in

the CORSIM sCudies. Fleming concluded that the yield from Rangely Reservoir

could be reduced by 6570 acre-feet to 54,850 acre-feet depending on the degree

and mechod of developmenc of certain rights senior to Rangely Reservoir. The

equiva1enc a~erage annual yield from Rangely Reservoir would range from 37,150

acre-feet to 85,430 acre-feet. Fleming did not make any esc1mate of flow'

into Utah which would result from these additional developments.

The CORSIM runs made by Fleming in 1975 used the historic screamflows for the

period 1941 through 1970 in the modeling procedure. Stream flow records
'.

obtained since 1970 show that the 1977-l978 season was the worst year on

record (l923-1978). Western Engineers, Inc. (Western) of Grand Junction,

Colorado, performed addicional studies to determine the effects which these

more recent streamf10ws would have on the Rangely Project. The results of

their studies were outlined in a letter to Mr. Dave Myler of Rangely, Colorado,

dated June 27, 1979. 'Mr. Myler furnished copies of this letter to the sponsors

of the Moon Lake Power Project and ocher interested parties. A copy of the

letter is acc3ched.

0:37

4

, ,
,1 '<'.'
!\, :
