.

TASK IIIa-9

Linked West Slope Water Resources Planning Model

Objective: To combine the phase IlIa files of the White River Basin, Yampa River Basin, Gunnison
River Basin, Upper Colorado River Basin, and San Juan/Dolores River Basin Water Resource Planning
Models into a single model that links the functions and operational choices that exist in all these river
systems. Revise the Phase II linked model memorandum to include Phase IlIa enhancements.

Assumptions: Structure and node identifications that are data "keys" for StateMod are unique across
the White, Yan1pa, Colorado, Gunnison, and San JuanJDolores models, In other words, nodes,
structures, and rights do not have to be renamed or renumbered in the linked model.

Prerequisites: Completion of Tasks IlIa-2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.

Task Leader:
Task 9.01

Meg Frantz (Boyle)
Review Phase 11 Model Linkage

Objective: Review procedure used in Phase II to link and demonstrate functionality of the linked basin
model.

.

Approach:
I. Boyle: Review approach used in Phase II to link and demonstrate functionality of the linked model.
IdentifY potential enhancements such as the addition of a new transbasin diversion (Dome Creek) or
additional programming to minimize hand edits.

Deliverables:
I. Memorandum describing enhancements, if any, to the Phase II approach used to build and
demonstrate linked model functionality. Recommendations, if any, to enhance the linked model.

Task 9.02

Create Linked Input Files

Objective: Assemble the linked model input files from the Phase IlIa single-basin model baseline
scenario input files,

Assumptions: Node, structure, and right identifiers are unique across five basins, meaning that they
will not need to be renumbered.

.

Approach:
I. Boyle: In coordination with the State develop a scope of activities to include enhancements
identified in Task 9,01 that are consistent with the Budget and Schedule. This activity is expected
to occur following a regularly scheduled progress meeting,
2. Boyle: Use the StateMod utility, smlink, developed in Phase II to concatenate StateMod input
files. This utility allows all input files to be combined, but does not currently address unique
considerations such as trans basin interactions and model overlaps. In addition, it provides a listing
of StateMod dimension requirements.

Phase IlIa Scope of Services

A-49

1136

Jan 31, 1997
