Natural inflows to the reservoir would
be supplemented by flows of Cow and Beaver Creeks diverted through
the Electric Mountain Feeder Canal. Project water released from the
reservoir would be conveyed southwest in the 43-mile-long Grand Mesa
Canal. The canal would also receive water from several North Fork
tributaries intercepted along its course. Some water would be re-
leased along the canal for irrigation, but the greater part would
be delivered to the potential Cactus Park Reservoir at the end of
the canal about 4 miles east of Cedaredge. Cactus Park Reservoir
would also receive water from several tributaries of Tongue Creek
diverted eastward to it through the 8-mile-long Surface Creek Feeder
Canal.

Cactus Park Reservoir water would be distributed by the Cedaredge
Canal and its Lower Redlands Lateral to project lands below the
reservoir. If desired the canal would also convey project water to
delivery points for the Orchard City municipal system and the Cedar-
edge fish hatchery.

i
t
I
I
I
I
I
,

Part of the Cactus Park Reservoir water would replace irrigation
water. presently diverted from nearby streams. The replaced water
would then be used further upstream, some for irrigation, and the
remainder to provide for the reoperation of some existing reservoirs
on Grand Mesa to be selected for conversion to permanent. recreation
lakes. This reoperation would permit the reservoir surfaces to be
maintained at constant elevations to increase values for fish and
wildlife, recreation, and environmental improvements.

Replacement water would be provided to the existing Bureau of Recla-
mation Fruitgrowers Reservoir for that portion of its present 'inflow
