~ 0'01'1 4~

6:1

SECRETARY-TREASURER
Report for 1939

"

The Board of Directors of the Pathfinder Irrigation District
held twenty-four meetings during the year. Six of these were special
meetings and four were meetings at which the Board sat as a Board of
Equalizat,\.on.

,

One Director is elected to serve as a member of the Board each '
year and the election was held in the First L~teral District last year,
and Mr. Janssen was relected to serve as director of the First Lateral
District.

The operation and maintenance estimate for the year 1939 was
prepared during the month of Janu~ry and presented to the Board for
consideration and approval at the February meeting. Because of finan-
cial conditions of the Project many items were eliminated from the
estimate, and the operation and maintenance charge for the year was
then fixed at ~1.30 per acre, and the water users were given the
privilege of paying it in two installments.

The Pathfinder Irrig~tion District has set aside a fund to be
used in case of emergency to pay the.employees liability. The District
carries its own insurance, and there was some question by the Insurance
Commissioner as to whether or not this fund was large enough so that it
was decided to increase the reserve fund created for the ~ayment of em-
ployees liability ~ 1500.00.

\

The Pathfinder Irrigation District'is intorested in the drain which
passes through part of the town of BaYcrd, and citizens of Bay~rd were en-
deavoring to have the State Highway Department improve and reconstruct a
bridge ctossing the :'illd HOrse Drain, which bridge is locat0d about one
hundred feet south of the Chicago Burlington and Quincy Railroad track
on the highway through Bayard.

f

The Department of roads and Irrigation of the St~te of Nebraska
had signified their willingness to construct tho bridge over the ~ild
Hourse Drain provided the proper ~greement could be had with the parties
interested in the Drain. After discussing the proposition the following
resolution was adopted.

WHEREAS I A certain drainage ch::mnel known as thc,iUd Horse Drain
was constructed jointly by the F~rmers Irrigation District, Alliance Irri-
gation District, City of Bayard, and the United St~tes.

WHEREAS: A portion of the afore mentioned drainage channel crosses
the State Highway through Bayard, at a point approximetely one-hundred
feet south of the Chicago Burlington and Quincy R~ilroad Company's right-
of-way, on the section line betwcen Section 34, Township 21 N., Range 52 W.
Morrill County, Nebraska.

\lIllillliAS: The Dep'lrtment of Roads and Irrigation is desirous of
removing the present crossing ovcr the said ..-ild Horse Dr,:1.inagc Channel,
which is located at the point described in'thc preceding paragraph and
of constructing a new bridge, in its stead.

~
