'J

,,' -" 8
:) (j .t ,) "t

J

"

MR. FRED T. conER: (Phoenixl Arizona) I would like to make a
statement on this Bridge Canyon Project se that you may have it for your
coneideration. Our report will be given to you for your information in
view of the fact that there is in Arizona a very strong faotion that is
oppesing the Bridge Canyon Dam site.

. . . .Mr. Colter then submitted to"the committee a 300
page report relative to opposition in Arizona. together with his oral
statement . . . .

GOVERNOR HANNETT. I desire to offer a resolution. Mr. Chairman,
I move that only the delegates officially named by the governors of the
various states be allowed to SPElak except with the oonsent of the Chair or the
consent of the offioial representative from that state.

MR. ROGERS. I second the motion.

carried . .

. . . . The motion was put to a vote and it was unanimously

. .

MR. HEWES: I would like to ask Mr. Davis a qoostion. I Wluld
like to have him clear the record with reference to the legislation passed
by the State of Arizona in regard to ratifying the CODlIRct. Mr. Davis.
I think you made the sta.temant that the lElgislature used the language of thG
Cempaot.

Aot.

MR. DAVIS: The l!lllguage of the Boulder Dam Act.
MR. HEWES: Of oourse. it does not include all tho language of the.' .'

MR. DAVIS: Just relating to the tli-state agreement. In the
BouldElr Dam Aot it lIlllkes provision for a tri-state agreement between the
three statos. Cal1f'crnia.. Nevada IUld Arizona. and that language was taken out
and lii'ted bodily out of this Bouldor Dam Act whioh related to the tri-
state agreellllnt.

MR. HEWES. As far as tho Compact ia oonoerned the legislature
did not uae the entire l!lllguago of tho Compact. I rather felt that the
record would be confusing as to your statoment of the langunge of the Act
with referenee to the stipula.tion by 'Which tho State of Arizona would
ratify the Compact !Illd I would like the rocord to show tho.t the
legislation passed dees not include all of tho language of the Compact.

MR. DAVIS. Are you confusing tho CompMt with tho Boulder Dam

Aot?

MR. HEWES:
Compaot is concerned.

I want te clear up tho situntion as far as the
I do not wnnt thero to be ony eonf'usion.

MR. GILES; " Perhaps loan be helpful. I have a copy of tho
Boulder Dem Compaot.
