,

,

.

.

.

,

a. A map screening using 1:250.000 and then 1:24,000 or 1:48,000
topographic mapping,

b. Review of Forest Service and BLM maps.

c. Application of information gained from Literature Review, Task I.

d. Discussion with CWCB and Technical Advisory Committee personnel.

It is anticipated that a up to a total of 25 sites will be identified,

3, We propose to use a screening methodology such as that shown on the following
figure. This provides a numerical rating for the application of each rating
factor at each site. Ratings range from 'Criteria Easily Satisfied' to 'Criteria
not Satisfied" and include a "fatal flaw', the application of which would
eliminate a site from further consideration, The rating system is displayed in
matrix form for ready use and comprehension.

4. Following the application of ntings for each factor and potential site, the
ratings will be totalled for each site. Sites receiving higher numerical ratings
will receive more favorable consideration; however, non-quantifiable aspects
may emerge and need to be factored into the site screening process at this point,
These will require the exercise of judgement, which will be documented in the
Task Report. Based upon an examination of numerical rankings and non-
quantifiable factors, an overall ranking will be achieved. It is anticipated that
approximately eight sites will survive the Task 4 screening and be considered in
Task 5.

5, More specific information on the initial water supply and water quality
screening appears on the following pages.

6.
