~he Seleoted Project

The LDC plans to construct alternative #3. Features of this
alternative are as follows:

Two mechanical lift gates will be constructed. Each gate
will be approximately 20 feet in length and four feet in
height.

Three sections of concrete rollover wall will be
constructed. Each section will be approximately 20 feet in
length and five feet in height.

A new concrete floor will be constructed under the gates and
rollover sections. The floor will be six inches thick
through the center and flared toward the edge.

Sheet piling will be placed along the upstream edge of the
project to prevent under currents from eroding under the new
improvements.

These features are shown in the preliminary set of plans found in
Appendix A.

Water Riqhts

There are 14 shareholders in the LDC with rights to divert 39.9
cfs from the South Platte River under an 1882 decree. The
official name on the decree is the LOWLINE DITCH COMPANY with
their water being diverted down the LOWLINE DITCH. The LDC
diverts on average approximately 6,650 acre feet of water per
year through their ditch.

Feasibility Study
towline Ditch Company
Diversion Structure
March 2003

5
