Smith Geotechnical of Fort Collins did the feasibility study and the design of the project.
The construction contractor is Zak Dirt, Inc. of Longmont. The rehabilitation project has
been underway for the last several months and is expected to be completed by the end of
this year or early next year.

Discussion

To date, three change orders have been approved for a total additional cost of $119,121.
A fourth, and final, change order is expected at an estimated additional cost of $93,984.
The overruns are due to:

· extra excavation in the breach' area and the abutments,

. sinkholes in the bottom of the reservoir,

· additional riprap and bedding required by the State Engineer's Office (SEO),

. additional sand drain materials required by the SEO,

· additional costs to process borrow materials to remove large cobbles, and

. an outlet pipe extension.

Since the work has not yet been completed, a contingency of 20 percent is added to the
total estimated additional cost.

Engineering costs have increased by $25,000 due to extra hours of construction
inspection and the need for an experienced engineer at the construction site. Extra survey
work and the installation of piezometers have added $15,000 to the project cost.

The total additional cost for completion of the project is estimated as $295,726 as shown
in the following table. Adding the costs for work completed to date results in an
estimated final cost of$I,608,925.
