<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />"" <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Smith Geotechnical of Fort Collins did the feasibility study and the design of the project. <br />The construction contractor is Zak Dirt, Inc. of Longmont. The rehabilitation project has <br />been underway for the last several months and is expected to be completed by the end of <br />this year or early next year. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />To date, three change orders have been approved for a total additional cost of $119,121. <br />A fourth, and final, change order is expected at an estimated additional cost of $93,984. <br />The overruns are due to: <br /> <br />· extra excavation in the breach' area and the abutments, <br /> <br />. sinkholes in the bottom of the reservoir, <br /> <br />· additional riprap and bedding required by the State Engineer's Office (SEO), <br /> <br />. additional sand drain materials required by the SEO, <br /> <br />· additional costs to process borrow materials to remove large cobbles, and <br /> <br />. an outlet pipe extension. <br /> <br />Since the work has not yet been completed, a contingency of 20 percent is added to the <br />total estimated additional cost. <br /> <br />Engineering costs have increased by $25,000 due to extra hours of construction <br />inspection and the need for an experienced engineer at the construction site. Extra survey <br />work and the installation of piezometers have added $15,000 to the project cost. <br /> <br />The total additional cost for completion of the project is estimated as $295,726 as shown <br />in the following table.
