.,

.

.

Memorandum will be the basis for identifying data gaps and developing locations for the
field data collection program described in Tasks 33.

. The draft Technical Memorandum will be updated into a final Technical Memorandum
after adding new aquifer configuration information obtained under Task 35, and
addressing State comments on the draft Technical Memorandum.

. The Technical Memorandum will be provided in draft final form to the State for review
and comment. The Consultant will incorporate the comments and recommendations from
the State, and provide a final Phase 1 Lower South Platte Region Aquifer Configuration
Report. Six hard copies and one digital copy in MSWord and Adobe Acrobat PDP format
will be provided to the State.

Task 33 Field Study Workplan Development:
Objective:

The objective of this task is to develop a Phase I field program and workplan. This field
program will fill some of the data gaps identified under Tasks 31/42, 32/43 and 38/44. It will
consist of drilling and constructing observation wells in the Denver Basin and Lower South Platte
Regions.

Approach:

Task 33.1 Phase 1 Data ColIection Program Design.

. The Consultant will develop a data collection program for new wells that will include
procedures for site access, control and reclamation, well drilling, sampling and well
construction, borehole and core sample testing; water level measurements, health and
safety, field QNQC protocols, and field documentation requirements.

. The Consultant will identify suitable locations and methods for up to 15 alluvial aquifer
and 1 bedrock monitoring wells to be constructed during Phase I.

. Maps will be developed that depict areas considered to be high priorities for collection of
new hydrogeologic data. They will show the location of existing data points and, if
available, the location of wells cUrrently in use or planned as part 'of upcoming USGS and
SEO monitoring programs in the subject basins.

. Existing wells will be evaluated for use and testing in lieu of installing new wells, such as
the USGS NA WQA Cycle 2 drilling and sampling program within the South Platte River
basin.

. In subsequent years it is expected that the workplan will be amended to include the
procedures for new field tasks that will begin in that year, including pumping tests and
measuring water levels in existing wells starting with Phase 2 funding, and streambed
conductance testing in Phase 3.

SPDSS Groundwater SOW, Phase 1

Page 19
