.

fill materials will be keyedlbenched into the existing embankment fill materials, In addition, a seepage
drain will need to be constructed at the southern groin of the embankment in the south abutment prior to
piacing any fill materials, A spring (wet area) has been observed in this area by the State Engineer's office
during their periodic inspections, The State Engineer's office has requested that this seepage be directed
away from the embankment.

A new outlet/intake structure will be constructed/installed to the south of the embankment and to the west of
the existing spillway, The intake structure for the outlet will be constructed of a precast concrete inlet box,
A concrete manhole with a steel gate structure will be installed approximately 200 feet downstream of the
inlet. The outlet pipe installed between the intake structure and downstream of the manhole will consist of
12-inch diameter PVC pipe, The outlet pipe will daylight in the natural channel downstream of the
embankment approximately 300 feet northwest of the manhole,

.

Alternative No, 4 will include the above work, as well as include raising the embankment by an additional 2
feet and modifYing the existing concrete spillway structure, The embankment configurations outlined in
Alternative No, 3 will allow the placement of the additional two feet of embankment fill upon the crest of
the embankment so that a final minimum crest width of 22 feet can be achieved, The modifications to the
spillway will include raising the flow line in the existing structure by approximately 5 feet and then raising
the side walls of the existing structure by approximately 1.5 to 2 feet. Grouting of the natural abutment
soils on the ends of the existing concrete structure will probably be required to prevent seepage around the
structure.

NWCC, Inc, (Northwest Colorado Consultants, Inc,) and Water Resource Consultants, LLC prepared the
plans and specifications for Alternative No, 3, which has been approved by the State Engineer's office, A
copy of these plans and specifications are shown in Appendix C. It should be noted that the plans and
specifications required for the modifications outlined in Alternative No, 4 have not yet been completed, A
copy of these plans and specifications will be submitted as soon as they are completed, The Geotechnical
Investigation completed by NWCC, Inc, is shown in Appendix D,

Cost Estimate

.

The estimated cost for completing Alternative No, 3 is $300,000 and the estimated cost for completing
Alternative No, 4 is $330,000, The cost breakdown is summarized in the following Table I,

.

Martin Cull Dam Rehabilitation Feasibility Study

May 2002

Page 4
