4) Pali""t1e Pipeline Extension. This water right appears to be the
only ditch right the Town of Palisade acquired on its own behalf
by appropriation and application for beneficial use. The water
right has an appropriation date of December 11, 1923 and a
decree date of July 21, 1959. This right is also refereed to as
the Cottonwood Intake. In 1968, Palisade med for additional
changes in use in points of diversion for the Palisade Pipeline
Extension.

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

5) Egjl:/lI" Ditch This ditch was located on Rapid Creek near the
old Eggar Ranch. It diverted water into the old Eggar
Reservoir, which has subsequently been discontinued. Both
Eggar Ditch and Eggar Reservoir rights were converted into
Cabin Reservoir storage in 1986.

6) Stewart #1, Stewart #2 and Lower Lloyd Ditches. These
ditches were built primarily to transport water away from a sink
area, where the water vanishes into underground formations. It
was then carried downstream and delivered back into Rapid
Creek. Palisade presently diverts this water through their Rapid
Creek intakes. The Stewart Ditch has water rights junior to
those in the Rapid Creek Reservoirs; thus, it collects water only
in very wet years, and has limited use. The lower Lloyd Ditch
(No.2) intake has been transferred to the Middle Reservoir
Creek intake.

7) Other Rights The Town also has two very junior water rights
associated with the Town's wastewater discharge and seepage
from the Grand Valley Canal. These rights, when in priority,
give the Town the ability to reuse water from these two sources
for municipal purposes and for augmentation purposes.

3.

Discussion of Storage Rights.

a. General.

Table IV-3 is a summary of storage rights based on original decrees,
with basin rank and decree dates shown prior to recent transfer.
The Hydrosphere report shows present day storage rights (Sec. 2.1
of that report).

The Town's storage rights are associated with the Town's seven
reservoirs: Palisade Cabin Reservoir, Palisade Reservoir No.1,
Palisade Reservoir No.3, Granat Reservoir, Denison Reservoir, and

IV-IO
