He said he <br />did not want to see his property taxes raised because the town loses its <br />sales taxes. <br /> <br />Administrator LIEstrange'read a letter .from Frank Taverna, a copy of which <br />is attached hereto, on the same subject. <br /> <br />There was further discussion about the bypass i~bUe, <br /> <br />TRUSTEES' COMMENTS <br /> <br />Mayor Host read a letter from the Rocky MountaiD Poison Center which urged <br />the Town to adopt a poison week proclamation, T~ustee Terwilliger so <br />moved. Second by Grant; all ayes. A copy of the procl~nation is attached <br />hereto. <br /> <br />Terwilliger asked if the Town 110no1'S individual~ fOI. academic achievement <br />as well as athletes, L'Estrange said he would get a list of outstanding <br />students from the High School near graduation time. Terwilliger a~ked if <br />any letters have been sent regarding non-confor~ing signs. L'Estrange <br />said no, tha~ he would check on it and that there is a need to overhaul <br />the sign code for the business community, Terwi].liger read from Section <br />57-11 of the zoning code, explaining that, in his opinion the Hyde Park <br />project did not meet that criteria and thereforS he could not vote for it. <br /> <br />Trustee Grant asked if the old rental shop at Wolfe's cabins is now a <br />residence,. L'Estrange said he thought it is a dressmaker's now and the <br />building inspector could check on it, Grant also said that the trash <br />dumpsters on Midland are unsightly and annoying, L'Estrange said those <br />i, at the Iron Horse and Connors' building are supposed to be screened and <br />~ he would talk to Bishop about accessibility of the dumpsters. <br /> <br />Trustee Bair said he was irate about Moreland's attitude on tIle bypass, <br />The town should decide what is best for the cor.ununity aB a whole and not <br />speci~l interests. Basalt is not a destination resort and he is tired <br />of threats from businesses to leave town. L'Estrange said the Model Traffic <br />Code needs some overhaul and that area would be designated parallel <br />parking only. He said he has asked Connor to put a sign in the laundromat. <br />'asking people to parallel park but it hasn't been done. Bair said then the <br />town, should handle it. <br /> <br />There being .no further business, Trustee Bair moved to adjourn the meeting a' <br />10:44 P.M.
