I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

It appears that the 0.7 acre feet/share in 1977 is
an extreme case. For purposes of this report, we
will assume that a low flow year would yield 1 acre
foot per share (or 60 AF for the Town's 60 shares).

e. Intake ~ Measurement. As discussed in Chapter III
the Town's share of Gurley water is taken out at its
headgate located above the Town Reservoir. A
Parshall Flume is located below the intake, but is
warped and not usable. Diversion records from
Gurley Ditch are based on meter readings at the
water plant. However, this also includes other Town
rights.

3. Town Owned Surface Riqhts in Gurlev Canvon.

Norwood Water Riqhts. Norwood can also obtain water
through its water rights to flows originating in
Gurley Canyon. Priority #214 water right (Farmers'
Water Dev. Co. Ditch, which originates behind Gurley
Dam) states that the Town has the right to collect
the first 1/4 cfs from this right. Estimates of the
flow from this water right ranges from .10 cfs to
.25 cfs (45 gpm to 112 gpm). It must be tapped at
the reservoir or be subject to conveyance losses.

There is no estimate of flow from Priorities 385 and
425 (the Norwood pipeline). However, it is logical
to assume that it would be equivalent to any water
flowing down Gurley Canyon in winter that has not
been released from the reservoir. Priorities 385
and 425 should also flow in the summer but there is
no way to quantify it.

The combined direct flow rights of Priorities 214,
385 and 425 is 1.0 cfs; however, the actual physical
availability of this water each year is not known
because all diversion are intermixed with Gurley
Reservoir water and the exact sources in the
drainage basin of these water rights is not well
defined. An estimate of available water is
discussed in Section B3.

IV-12
