B. Fire Protection

1. Existing Protection - The Btook Forest Water District is located within

the Evergreen Fire Protection District. The closest fire station is located

approximately 5 miles away at the Town of Evergreen. .Much of the service area

includes mountain homes and cabins ~hich do not have adequate water for fire

fighting purposes. Thus, the Evergteen Fire Department fire fighting procedures

are somewhat different than those found in urban areas where adequate fire

hydrant densities are available. Tbe Evergreen Fire Department relies on a

fleet of fire trucks which carry their own water. Tank capacities on the fire.

trucks vary from 700 to 3500 gallons. The fire department maintains this type

of equipment specifically for controlling fires in remote areas.

The Brook Forest Water District has three fire hydrants on the distribution

system (see Figures-6 and -7, Pages 30 and 31). The following table shows the

estimated flow ratings for the three hydrants with and without fire hose connec-

tions.
