M noted previously it is
difficult to separate lands served specifically by Douglas Reservoir except by correlating
the contribution Douglas Reservoir water makes to the whole irrigation system to the
total acreage the whole system serves. On apercentage basis, Douglas Reservoir can be
thought to serve about 8,250 acres of irrigated land.

Crops grown on lands served by Windsor Reservoir and Canal Company include corn,
hay, sugar beets, pinto beans and carrots. No data was available on the actual
percentages of the different crops grown in the service area, however, a rough
breakdown of the different crops for Weld county was estimated from Colorado
Agricultural Statistics, 1990, published by the Colorado Department of Agriculture.
Table 3-2 presents the different irrigated crops grown on lands serviced by the Windsor
Reservoir and Canal Company, the estimated acres of each crop, the 1989 yields per
acre and 1989 dollars per unit. A summary of the yields of the various irrigated crops
for the past five years is given in Table 3-3.

3.3.2 Future

The anticipated net acreage of irrigated crop usage in the project service area IS
expected to remain the same or very near the same as the present acreage. Even if
some agricultural land is changed to municipal or residential use, the associated water
usage assessments will remain with those particular land packages, therefore, a net
decrease or increase in use is not anticipated.

3.4 LAND OWNERSHIP

One hundred percent of the irrigated lands served by the Windsor Reservoir and Canal
Company are privately owned.

22539G/DDUGLAS.DAM 12.17.90/REPDRTS3

13
