Bureau of Reclamation Small Reclamation Project Act <br /> <br />Eligible proj ects for 1986 are those with a total proj ect cost of <br />less than $41,600,00. The maximum loan is two-thirds of the project cost. <br />Grants may be made for flood control, outdoor recreation, and fish and <br />wildlife enhancement. Interest rates are determined by the Treasury <br />Department with a maximum term of 40 years. To be placed in the high <br />priority category, the loan must not exceed 50 percent of the project cost. <br />A portion of the project must involve supplying water for agriculture. <br />Requests have exceeded funding for the past several years. <br /> <br />6.1.2 U.S. Soil Conservation Service <br /> <br />The agricultural component in this project is too small to qualify for <br />SCS funding. <br /> <br />6.1.3 USDI - Farmers Home Administration Water and Wastewater Loans and Grants <br /> <br />This program was established to assist rural areas and towns with <br />populations up to 10,000 people. Priority is given.to areas with less than <br />5,500 people to restore a deteriorating water supply or to improve, <br />enlarge, or modify a water facility. The borrower must prove that he is <br />unable to obtain funds from any other source at reasonable rates and terms, <br />including bonds. Partial funding can be requested and grants may be <br />available for up to 75 percent of the eligible facility development cost. <br /> <br />6-1 <br />
