This additional water will be sold by the San Miguel Water

Conservancy District to anyone who desires to purchase it, assuming the

conveyance system is in place to transfer the water to those who wish to use

it. The area receiving the most benefit from the reservoir enlargement will be

the farm lands presently served by the Cone Reservoir. This area is south of

the town of Norwood and encompasses an area of approximately 1000 acres. The

second area that will potentially benefit from the reservoir enlargement is

presently irrigated land in the Norwood-Redvale area that is now served by

Gurley Reservoir.

The irrigated land served by Cone Reservoir and the land served by the

Gurley Reservoir lie in the same vicinity and in some cases users on the Cone

system also use water out of the Gurley ~ystem. To use Project water in the

lands served by the Gurley system could require. at the most, the construction

of some short laterals to transfer water from the Cone ditch system into the

Gurley ditch system. Therefore, the areas presently served by the Cone system

and the Gurley system can be considered as one service area for water from the

enlarged Cone Reservoir. Because at the present time all additional storage

can be utilized in the Norwood-Redvale area and the one ditch between Cone

Reservoir and the Lilylands system is not built, the use of any project water

in East Lilylands or Dry Creek Basin has not be considered. The service area

is depicted in Figure 1-1.

In addition to selling project water to users in the Norwood-Redvale area,

there is potential for water to be sold to users in East Lilylands and Dry

Creek Basin. This could be done only if a ditch is constructed between the

enlarged Cone Reservoir and the existing Lilylands system.

-6-
