Operations, Maintenance, and Replacement Costs

I

The Operations and Maintenance Costs for the dam and reservoirs were

considered to be the total of the following costs (see also Table-7, page 47).

I
I

a. Concrete repair of facilities, $2,000/year.

b. Replace riprap lost by displacement, or vandalism, 50 tons/year at
$20.00/ton, plus labor and equipment $2,OOO/year.

I

I

c. Slope maintenance, trimming, reshaping, crest repair, including
equipment rental $2,OOO/year.

d. Monitor and record performance of dam $2,000/year.

I

e. Dam tender inspections and operation of the outlet gates $3,OOO/year.

I

f. Service of gates and other mechanical equipment $1,OOO/year.

I

The total annual maintenance is estimated at $12,000/year, and is considered

applicable to either the Rehabilitation or Enlargement alternative. The

Operations and Maintenance Cost will be inflated by 8% per year for the

Financial Evaluation (see Chapter-VII).

I

I

The anticipated replacement items for the project life of 40 years consist

of riprap replacement, outlet gate replacement, and some major structural re-

pairs to the spillway. For the purpose of this analysis, the total Replacement

Costs are considered to be about $100,000 at 20 years, and $200,000 at 40 years.

I

I

In addition to the Replacement Costs, an Emergency Operating Fund was

also included in the project costs. This fund is set aside to finance ex-

traordinary costs beyond the scope of normal operation, maintenance, and

I

I
I

I

-27-
