I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

SUMMARY OF CONCLUSIONS

1. LAWMA presently has 170 members wha awn .or .operate 551 wells. Of this tatal
membership, 150 are irrigation members wha own .or .operate 429 wells, 14 are
municipal members wha own .or operate 95 wells, and 6 are cammercial members wha
own .or operate 27 wells.

2. LAWMA's tatal irrigatian pumping during water years 1990-94 has been estimated ta
average .of 80,707 acre-feet annually. An average .of approximately 78,555 acre-feet
or 97.33 percent .of the total occurred in the Arkansas River main stem area, and an
average .of 2,152 acre-feet .occurred in areas .outside .of the main stem. Of the main
stem pumping, an average 58,197 acre-feet was for supplemental water, and an
average of 20,358 acre-feet was for sale-source water.

3. LAWMA's municipal and cammercial pumping in water year 1994 has been estimated
at 13,883 acre-feet. Mast .of this pumping was by municipal users and most occurred
in the main stem area.

4. LAWMA and its members presently have interests in several saurces .of replacement
water. Included amang these are a) releases fram the Kansas Transit Lass Account,
b) return flow from Fryingpan-Arkansas Project water used by Fart Lyon sharehalders
who are LAWMA members, c) water rights for the Stubbs partian .of the Sissan-Stubbs
Canal, and d) shares in the Fort Bent Ditch Campany and Manvel Canal and Irrigation
Company. During the hydralogic canditians .of water years 1990-94, the saurces
pravided replacement credits of more than 3,000 acre-feet annually.

5. In addition ta these interests, the City .of Lamar is willing to laan water to LAWMA
until the water is needed far the City's patable water system. Specifically, this water
is derived through the City's .ownership .of 1,316 shares in the Fart Bent Ditch
Company and 50 shares in the Lamar Canal and Irrigation Company, and shauld
pravide replacement credits .of more than 1,000 acre-feet annually. At present, the
City .of Lamar is using Fryingpan-Arkansas Praject water purchased fram the
Sautheastern Calarado Water Canservancy District in preference to the water from
these saurces far water quality reasons.

34
