The pumpage during 1990-94 averaged approximately 7,888 acre-feet
annually on the x-v Ranch and 4,395 acre-feet annually on the Graham Ranch. LAWMA's
acquisition would substantially reduce, but not eliminate, the pumping on the X-V Ranch.
Some pumping would be required in the future for revegetation. Pumping on the Graham
Ranch should not be affected. All of the X-V and Graham Ranch wells are covered by
LAWMA membership so their pumping has been included in the depletion estimates.

LAWMA's intent is to market the land acquired in this transaction. The Colorado
Division of Wildlife has expressed an interest in this land, and LAWMA and the Division are
presently evaluating this potential. The Division will want some water to go along with the
land if it is to become the owner.

Manvel Canal

As previously mentioned, LAWMA presently owns 300 shares in the Manvel Canal and
Irrigation Company, but is considering acquisition of the remaining interests in the company.

The diversion facilities for the Manvel Canal are located on the south bank of the
Arkansas River, about 6 miles east of Lamar, in the NEl4 of sec. 32, T.22 5., R.45 W. The
canal extends generally east a distance of about 8 miles and terminates by discharging into
the Granada Irrigation Company Canal in sec. 9, T.23 5., R.44 W. The water right for the
Manvel Canal was decreed by the Bent County District Court on July 1, 1895. It allows
diversions for irrigation purposes at rates up to 54 cfs under an October 14, 1890 priority.
This water right is fairly junior on the Arkansas River, as evidenced by the fact that more than
840 cfs of senior water rights have been decreed in Water District 67.

The Manvel's diversion facilities on the Arkansas River consisted of a sand diversion
dam and a timber headgate structure for many years. Occasional floods and freshets washed
out portions of the sand dam that had to be rebuilt before water could again be diverted into
the canal. Evidently, the company felt that the junior nature of the water right did not justify

25
