o o A reservoir, with a normal maximum water surface at El 5070 would extend about 9.7 miles upstream from the dam site. The surface area at this elevation would be 4,230 acres. The reservoir would have an acti va storage capacity of 189,000 ac-ft above the minimum pool level (El 4975). I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I o A gated spillway located on the south abutment of the dam designed to pass the PMF. o An intake structure which would admit flows from the reser- voir at various levels (selective withdrawals) so that ad- justments in downstream water temperatures could be made. o An outlet works for conveying normal reservoir releases through the dam consisting of two ll-foot diameter reinforced concrete, steel-lined, conduits. o An indoor-type powerhouse containing two Kaplan turbines dri ving vertically mounted generators. The plant would pro- duce 32 MW with a maximum net head of 125 feet and maximum flow of 1,755 cfs. It is estimated that average annual power generation would be 145 million kWh. o Relocation of ten miles of railroad. The relocation would start about one mile east of DeBeque and join the existing line at a point about 0.7 mile west of Parachute. The relo- cation would include a 2,800-foot tunnel. Minor relocations, including about 4.3 miles of existing secondary roads and 2 miles of 230-kV transmission line. At the upper end of the reservoir, in the Town of Parachute and in the Battlement Mesa Development, ten apartment buildings and a number of municipal facilities would have to be pur- chased and/or relocated. -4-
