The inspection effort will be
concentrated on the outlet conduit and areas with
existing sinkholes. This task will be performed
immediately following authorization to proceed in
conjunction with the backhoe investigation. A detailed
written summary of the results of the site inspection
wi 11 be prepared and presented as part of the remed i a 1
design report.

Outlet Conduit

The existing outlet structure will be subjected to a
detailed inspection to evaluate its configuration,
condition and materials of construction. The externally
visible portions of the structure, including the intake.
control tower, and outfall will be visually inspected,
measured, and photographed. The outlet structure wi 11 be
visually inspected internally to allow evaluation of
possible seepage entry points and possible conduit
deteri orat ion. The structural dimens ions wi 11 be
obtained so that a scale drawing of the outlet works can
be generated for use during the remedial design.

Embankment and Impoundment

The existing sinkholes will be dimensioned and
,
located on a suitable map based on surveyed coordinates
and elevation. A walk-over inspection of the remainder of
the impoundment wi 11 be conducted to locate other
possible sinkhole sites and bedrock outcrops in general.
These sites will also be located on the map. In addition,
springs and associated measuring weirs in the area
immediately downstream of the dam will be located and
shown on the map. A surface assessment of the site
geology will also be made at this time.

-5-
