Service Area <br /> <br />Welch Reservoir provides supplemental irrigation water to approximately <br />10,000 acres of land. In addition, the Town of Berthoud owns 20 shares of <br />Handy Ditch stock. The Ditch Company provides Berthoud with supplemental <br />storage which affords relief to Berthoud's water supply facilities. This <br />water is treated and delivered to Berthoud residents for potable and <br />irrigation use. The Handy Ditch system also delivers Deines #2 water to its <br />owners. The service area for Welch Reservoir is shown on Figure 3. <br /> <br />B. Land Use <br /> <br />All of the land within the Welch Reservoir service area is used for <br /> <br />agriculture with the exception of the Town of Berthoud.
