~,

This strainer prevents pipe scale, grit, or other foreign matter from

damaging the seats of the regulator and will increase the life and use-

fulness of the valves.

Individual regulator valves will not correct the high pressure in

the water main, but it will allow the household plumbing and appliances

to function at their designed pressures.

An overall solution to the problem of high water pressure in the

town's water system is to install main line pressure regulating valves.

A pressure zone map and the location of the pressure regulating stations

are shown on Exhibit C at the end of this report. These pressure regu-

lating stations, just as in all mechanical equipment, requires maintenance

and attention in order to function properly.

All the taps in the Eagle water system are metered. These meters

are relatively new, most of them having been installed in the last 3

years, and are an asset to the distribution system.

.

.

Raw Water Transmission Line: The raw water transmission line from the

intake structure to the treatment plant is in a deteriorating condition

and should be replaced. The raw water line is made up of a combination

of 8", 10" and 12" diameter pipe. The 12" diameter pipe is new and is

of adequate size to accommodate the town's requirements of water. Of

the approximate 29,000 feet of raw water line, 4,500 feet is the new

12" diameter pipe. The raw water .line presently traverses through fields

generally following the alignment of Brush Creek and the Brush Creek

County Road. This alignment is shown on Exhibit D at the end of this

report. When breaks occur in the present raw water line, the town has

to gain access to such breaks through private property. These fields

raise agricultural products and the resulting damage to the fields or

to livestock due to the repairing of these breaks are assessed to the town

- 40 -

.
