Due to the extreme cold temperatures and soil conditions

experienced in the Brush Creek valley, the use of non-metallic pipe

for the water transmission line should not be considered.

.

Treated water transmission: The treated water transmission line

from the filter plant into town consists of a new 12" cast iron

pipe which was installed in the 1970-71 construction period. This

pipe is relatively sound and has adequate capacity for the needs of

the town of Eagle for many years to come and should require a mini-

mum of maintenance.

.'

Storage: The town has a potential capacity of 550,000 gallons of

treated water storage. The town does not enjoy a full 200,000 gal-

lon water storage capacity in the new 200,000 gallon storage tank,

as the new tank was constructed with the overflow pipe fifteen (15)

feet higher than the overflow of the existing tank at the treatment

plant. This means that water will only rise 21 of the 36 feet of

tank elevation. So, of tpe 200,000 gallon capacity of the 200,000
gallon capacity of the new tank, only 117,000 gallons of water can be

stored and the other 83,000 gallons of capacity can only be filled with

air. Due to the elevatio~ difference of the tanks, the town has an ac-

tual water storage capaci~y of 467,000 gallons of water. The Kaibab

Subdivision has added fouf 25,000 gallon storage tanks to its system

for a total of 100,000 gaJlons of water storage for the subdivision.

At the present average co~sumption rate, the available water storage

will last the town for only approximately two days. With restricted

water use, the present storage will supply the town for about three to

four days.

.

- 10 -
